Tipping
Let buyers add a tip for you and your staff at checkout.
Overview
Tipping lets buyers add an optional tip on top of the ticket price at checkout, tracked as its own separate amount so it never gets mixed into your ticket revenue. This is especially useful if you split tips with staff — you can pull the exact tip total from Event Analytics or your exported data instead of estimating it by hand.
Tips work alongside Pay What You Want pricing too: if a buyer names their own price and adds a tip, both amounts stay distinguishable in your data even though they're charged together in the same transaction.
The buyer-facing service fee scales with the tip amount (since it's charged on the ticket price plus tip), but that fee is covered by the buyer, not deducted from you. See Fees for the full breakdown.
Where You Can Use It
- Paid event tickets (fixed price or Pay What You Want)
Tipping is off by default for every event. Turn it on from your event's settings — look for Enable Tipping alongside the No Refunds Banner setting, available once your event has a paid ticket type.
Once enabled, buyers see an Add a Tip section at checkout with preset percentage buttons, a custom amount option, and a way to opt out entirely.
Best Practices
- Only enable tipping if it makes sense for your event — e.g. food, service, or experience-based events where guests may want to tip staff.
- Check "Tips Collected" on your Event Dashboard to see tips separately from ticket sales revenue.
- Export your event's data to get a per-attendee tip breakdown if you split tips with a team.
