Referral Program Terms

Summary

Thank you for helping to grow our community. From time to time, Markit may invite you to participate in one of their referral programs to encourage people to use the Markit platform. Participating in a referral program (either by referring friends or family or signing up with a referral code) can be a great way for creators, Markit users to receive monetary rewards or other discounts (each a "Referral Reward").

Markit Referral Program Rules (the "Rules") apply to referral programs that are administered solely by Markit. By accepting and sharing your referral code or by signing up with a referral code, you are agreeing to be bound by these Rules. Any violation of these Rules will prevent you from participating in any Markit referral program (now or in the future), and can result in the forfeiture or retraction of access to the Markit platform, your account, credits, monetary payouts, or other rewards earned through the program and even the deactivation of your account.

Please note that these Rules are in addition to the Terms of Use as well as Markit’s Privacy Policy.

1. Who is eligible to be a referrer/inviter?

You must have an active Markit account to participate in the Markit Referral Program. It is not required that the referrer/inviter have a Markit+ subscription.

2. Who is eligible to be a referee/invitee?

Your friends, family, and other people you know (but not yourself or anyone that works in your business or organization) may be eligible to be referees/invitees. To determine eligibility, keep in mind the following stipulations:

To receive a Referral Reward for referring someone who orders services through the Markit applications and/or websites, your referee/invitee must (a) be a new Markit user (b) meet the conditions Markit has for using the platform, and (c) Referee/invitee is only eligible for reward if referral code is entered during checkout while purchasing a Markit+ creator subscription to either the Creator or Business Plans.

3. How can I use my referral code?

To use your referral code, the referrer/inviter can copy their code from the “Referral” screen on desktop or in the mobile app. On desktop, this can be accessed from the bottom left corner of the navigation column. In the mobile app this can be accessed from the profile tab. Once on the referral screen, referrers/inviters can copy their referral code and share it with an eligible referee/invitee of their choosing via text, social media, or any other method of communication. As a referrer/inviter you may share your referral code as many times as you like.

4. How do I earn my Referral Reward as a referrer/inviter?

As long as you and your referee/invitee follow these Rules, the Terms of Use governing your use of the Markit platform, the Rewards Terms and you have an activated account (i.e. have all required documents uploaded and approved) to receive the payout, you should receive your Referral Reward after your referee/invitee uses your code to sign up to Markit+ Creator or Business Plan.

All referrer/inviter rewards will be sent directly to the referrer/inviter via Zelle or Venmo. Markit accepts no responsibility for any rewards that are not received due to an issue with Zelle or Venmo payment methods in the event of a referrer/inviter not receiving the reward that Markit sends them.

Markit reserves the right to set a limit on the number of times you may use your referral code. The requirements for receiving, and the amounts of, Referral Rewards are subject to change at Markit’s sole discretion.

Referrer/Inviter Rewards 💸

• Business Plan Referral: Referrer/Inviter will receive $300 for an eligible Business plan referral. They get $100.
• Creator Plan Referral: Referrer/Inviter will receive $60 for an eligible Creator plan referral. They get $20.

5. How can I earn a Referral Reward as a referee/invitee?

To receive a referral reward as a referee/invitee, you must first be eligible (see eligibility requirements). Then, you must apply the referral code at checkout while purchasing a Markit+ creator subscription, on either the Creator plan or Business plan. The Basic plan or Free plan is not valid for the referral program rewards. Once you apply the referral code at checkout and complete your onboarding as a Markit+ user, you will be fully eligible to receive your referral reward.

For Markit+ Business Plan User Eligibility: You must have used at least 10,000 text credits and have an active Markit+ business plan subscription to receive your referral reward.

Markit+ Creator Plan User Eligibility: You must have used at least 2,500 text credits and have an active Markit+ creator plan subscription to receive your referral reward.

All referee/invitee rewards will be sent directly to the referee/invitee via Zelle or Venmo. Markit accepts no responsibility for any rewards that are not received due to an issue with Zelle or Venmo payment methods in the event of a referee/invitee not receiving the reward that Markit sends them.

Referree/Invitee Rewards 💸

• Business Plan Sign Up Reward: Referree/Invitee will receive $100 for an elligible Business plan referral sign up reward.
• Creator Plan Sign Up Reward: Referree/Invitee will receive $20 for an ellible Creator plan referral sign up reward.

6. Termination and changes

Markit reserves the right to change, end, or pause, in whole or in part, any referral program, as well as any referrer/inviter's or referee/invitee's ability to participate in any referral program or receive Referral Rewards at any time for any reason, including suspected fraud (including by either the referrer and/or referee/invitee), abuse, or any violation of these Rules as well as any agreement (if one exists) between you and Markit. In accordance with applicable laws, if Markit ends any referral program, any unused or unredeemed Referral Rewards may be forfeited at that time, provided we give you 14 days of notice to use or redeem your Referral Rewards.

Markit may update these Rules at any time. If Markit makes an update, Markit will post the update via existing or new communications channels, including but not limited to Markit’s Community Text Updates, the Markit website, or in app notifications to provide you notice of the update. Continued participation in any referral program after any update will mean that you have agreed to the update.

7. Taxes and Reporting Responsibility

Participants are solely responsible for any tax obligations that may arise from receipt of Referral Rewards. Markit does not provide tax advice and may issue appropriate tax forms (e.g., Form 1099) if legally required.
